ENTERTAINMENT TID BITS

After about 100 years R. Kelly's trial on child pornography is officially set to begin. At a hearing held yesterday in Chicago, Judge Vincent Gaughan said Kelly's trial will start on September 17th. Kelly faces 14 counts of child pornography for allegedly videotaping himself having sex with a girl who was reportedly 14 years old at the time. Kelly has pleaded not guilty to the charges. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $100,000.

Mikhail Gorbachev is the new face of Louis Vuitton.

Paris Hilton has landed a singing role in Repo! The Genetic Opera, a movie musical about a time in the future when organs are sold on the installment plan. When patients fail to make their payments on time, the organs are repossessed. The movie beings production in September.

Michael Imperioli former Sopranos bad guy will star in ABC's original movie Oprah Winfrey Presents: Mitch Albom's For One More Day as an alcoholic former baseball player who plans to end his life until he spends time magically with his deceased mother (Ellen Burstyn).

Prince's latest CD, Planet Earth, debuted at Number Three on the Billboard Top 200 this week.

Reese Witherspoon will walk the line for Avon Products, Inc. as the company's first ever Global Ambassador. Avon announced Wednesday that Witherspoon will do much more than just act as the spokeswoman for Avon's beauty brands and Sales Representatives. She will also be the Honorary Chairman of the Avon Foundation, which will give her the opportunity to serve others by focusing on issues like breast cancer, domestic violence and emergency relief.

Weeks after Pras spoke out about the Fugees project “not happening”, Wyclef also confirmed that the group will not be releasing another album together. Wyclef was interviewed for the new issue of Scratch Magazine and had some harsh words to say about Lauryn Hill.
