He's free - Mystikal released

New Orleans rapper Mystikal was released from a Louisiana Federal Prison last week, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons. The rapper was sentenced to six-years in prison after pleading guilty to extortion and sexual battery charges, stemming from an incident in which he forced a woman to perform oral sex on camera, after he caught her writing $80,000 in bogus checks.

A representative with the Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed with AllHipHop.com that the rapper, born Michael L. Tyler, was released from prison on Jan. 11, almost one-year after being denied parole. On Jan. 19, 2006, the 36-year-old rapper went before the prison systems parole board, which denied his release. Just seven days earlier, on Jan. 12, a judge had sentenced Mystikal to an additional year on two misdemeanor counts of failing to report almost $2 million in earnings from 1998-1999. Mystikal was allowed to serve the misdemeanor tax sentence concurrently.

The representative told AllHipHop.com that the Desert Storm war veteran was labeled a "full term release, " but will be placed under court-ordered supervision in Middle Louisiana, or the district he resides in.

Good year for Forest Whitaker

Forest Whitaker: It seems to be the fine actor's year. Not only is he favored to win an Oscar in the Best Actor category for his portrayal of the brutal Ugandan dictator Idi Amin in The Last King of Scotland, but Whitaker also is up for a major NAMIC Vision Award for his work on FX Network's The Shield as Lt. Jon Kavanaugh, a man on a mission to derail Vic Mackey's (Michael Chiklis) illegal train.

The Shield topped the NAMIC list with four nominations: Best Actor noms Whitaker and Benito Martinez, Best Television Drama and a Best Actress in a Drama nomination for CCH Pounder. NAMIC is the premier organization focusing on multi-ethnic diversity in the communications industry.

The awards will be presented during a ceremony at the Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills, California on March 27.

Prepare to be enthralled by the following artists:

Shawn Rivera: Best known as the lead singer of the LaFace/Arista R&B Quintet AZ Yet who had a global hit with their first single, Last Night. The catchy song gained a multitude of new fans when featured in Eddie Murphy's film and soundtrack, The Nutty Professor. It reached number one on the Billboard R&B Charts and was certified Platinum in 1997. Under the tutelage of legendary producers David Foster and Kenneth BabyFace Edmonds, Shawn co-produced and arranged the groups biggest hit, a soulful remake of Chicago's rock classic, Hard To Say I'm Sorry. With his seductive lyrics and his alluring stage presence, Rivera is steadily carving his niche as a solo artist destined to be the biggest male balladeer since Brian McKnight.

Heidi Marie: A Hollywood rising star that Tinseltown is buzzing about, the true definition of the music industry's "complete package". She sings songs of hope, redemption, love and betrayal. The best way to describe Heidi's songwriting is "Timeless". Heidi adds a refreshing twist to age-old subjects like Aretha Franklin who would be proud of Heidi's amazing rendition of her Classic Hit song Rock Steady. Her original material is applaudable, as she draws you in with her song Marmalade kisses, so sweet.

Rachel Jones in January Issue of Black Men

Hey all, be sure to check out my girl Rachel Jones in this months issue of Black Men Magazine - 40 on 40.

Just to set the record straight, her biggest achievement is not appearing in Jet Magazine, there's a LOT more to her than that.. You already know how editing goes.

Anyway, please support and go get your copy NOW!
A few comments to the mag re her feature wouldn't hurt either.

Clinton for President..

Ok, this is sooo spooky, for those that know me and remember the conversation I had with them LAST election - I TOLD YOU SO..

So, last election when a majority of people thought that Kerry actually had a shot, somebody I used to work with went into a ramble about how it wasn't going to happen because Hillary was going to be President in 2008.

I obviously looked at him like he was crazy and he further explained that, Kerry couldn't win because everything was being set up for Clinton therefore she would have to succeed a Republican. Didn't ask where, how, or why he would say such a thing..

Now you all know, 1. I'm paranoid, and 2. I'm very much into all those conspiracy theories (remember the Mel Gibson film??) I totally believed him and told everybody around me who would listen.. Of course everybody thought I was crazy..

Lo and behold when the announcement was made I was less than surprised. All I have to say is, GO HILLARY...

More info on her official website: http://www.hillaryclinton.com/

PS. Love the picture up top, don't you??

Soccer bends for Beckham

Why am I soooo not surprised by this.. Those from the UK will know exactly what I'm talking about.. I'm just wondering exactly where the US Beckingham Palace is going to be....
-----
A MAN named Simon Fuller is gloating. "I have always dreamt of being responsible for sport's biggest deal," he says. "And now I have."
He has just finished selling David Beckham to America, promising them that the man with the squeaky voice and Spice Girl wife will do for "sah-kurr" what the Beatles did for pop music: Make it rock.

Fuller has just secured the pop icon who happens to be a footballer a five-year deal worth US$250 million ($386 million) to end his career at Los Angeles Galaxy.
It's fitting, too, that the deal should have been brokered for a footballer by Fuller, a man who once put five girls on stage together — never mind that they couldn't sing — and created a sensation called the Spice Girls.

Anduze to perform @ Fashion Meets Music

NEWSFLASH NEWSFLASH NEWSFLASH
Anduze to perform @ Fashion meets Music, 17th January 2007

Two and a half years ago, Anduze released Oracle--and then he disappeared.

Over the ensuing months, he'd turn up doing acoustic shows in historic buildings converted into bars, like Freud Café in Oxford, England. Then maybe you'd see him at one of Paris's hottest clubs, Man Ray, performing with house music producer and DJ, Walter Taeib. A few weeks later, perhaps you'd catch Anduze absorbing his surroundings on the Greek island of Santorini, or spot him in the train station in Florence, Italy. But wherever he surfaced, it didn't take long for the locals to grasp the concept--Anduze is a musician of the people--an underground realist whose reflection is mirrored through sound, not sight.

During his two year absence, Anduze took some time away from his passion of songwriting. It's something every artist must do to retain clarity, originality, and most of all, sanity. Interestingly enough however, he used his pen to invoke an entirely different outlet instead writing screenplays. A film major in college, Anduze always eyed the prospect of entering the movie biz, which is what recently prompted him to move to a place that encompasses opportunities for all of his talents combined--Los Angeles, California.

Since returning to the States, he's opened for Def Jam recording artist, Ne-Yo, in the Virgin Islands, and loaned his services to a charity event sponsored by Much Music in Toronto, Canada. Oh yeah, and he also recorded an album. After experimenting with different sounds while always expanding his knowledge of music, Anduze seems to have finally found his niche. Appropriately titled, Roadless Traveler.

Oprah the Victim of $1.5 Million Blackmail Scheme

Oprah Winfrey was the target of an extortion plot by an Atlanta man who claimed to have damaging audio tapes he would release if he wasn't paid off, federal court charges allege.

The man, Keifer Bonvillain, is accused of illegally recording phone conversations he had with a Winfrey employee about her and her business. According to the charges, he then asked for $1.5 million from a second person, described as a Winfrey "business associate," to destroy the tapes and his notes.

The charges go on to say that Bonvillain threatened to sell the information to the tabloids or write a book about them.

Winfrey is not identified in the complaint, but instead the documents refer to an "Individual A," who is "a public figure and the owner of a Chicago-based company." The Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune on Saturday identified "Individual A" as Winfrey, whose Harpo Studios is based in Chicago.

Bonvillain's attorney, Kent Carlson, told the Tribune and Sun-Times he could neither confirm nor deny details in the complaint.

Halle Berry preggers???

OK, the rumor mill is spinning with the latest news that Halle Berry has a bun in the oven by her model boyfriend Gabriel Aubry.

She was spotted by paparazzi in this large summer dress hugging her belly.. Further fueled by the fact that she told Oprah she's desperate for a child.. Plus other online reports that there are sources out there confirming her present state and current choice in baggy clothing..

Judge for yourself by the picture..

PS.. This is why Tinseltown is so hilarious to me.. With the current state of the world and we're all enthralled with Britney's divorce, Whitney selling off her items, Beyonce jealous of Jennifer Hudson, it goes on and on and on, ok I'm not one to talk - LOL

Christopher Stokes - Clothing line debut

Christopher Stokes, famous for film directing and music production has decided to join the fashion business like so many celebs before him.

He’ll be showcasing his high end clothing line Christopher Brian Apparel @ Magic this February. The line will range from sunglasses (sold exclusively at Solstice stores) to contemporary street wear fashion.
His designer line will be available at specialty retailers such as Barney’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom.

I’ve been attending Magic twice a year for the past few years and seen so many ‘celeb’ launches. I must say I’m pretty excited to see how he’ll unveil the line at the Vegas show, and then of course the pre, after and post parties...

Fox cancels The OC, Chris Brown on TONIGHT'S show

Aggghhh, this was one of my guilty pleasures, I'm totally in love with O.C Dad Peter Gallagher and his eyebrows (don't tell anybody). Above is a picture we took together at an event in the Beverly Hilton.

----------------------
After bursting onto the scene in an inferno of hype in the summer of 2003, FOX's teen soap "The O.C." will fade quietly into the sunset this February after four eventful seasons.

FOX made the not-so-surprising announcement of the demise of "The O.C." late Wednesday (Jan. 3) afternoon. Starting this Thursday, "The O.C." will begin a stream of new episodes culminating in the series finale on Thursday, Feb. 22.
http://www.zap2it.com/
---------------------

For O.C fans tonight, singer Chris Brown makes his first appearance, playing a nerdy new student who forms a bond Kaitlin. Brown will appear over several episodes this season.
The O.C. airs Thursdays on Fox at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Michael Jackson f. Youngbloodz - Give In To Me (rmx)

Sorry all, I couldn't have a piece on Michael Jackson without sharing this with you all..

WILL.I.AM CONFIDENT OF JACKSON COMEBACK SUCCESS

Michael Jackson's forthcoming comeback album has been tipped for greatness by his collaborator Will.I.am. The Black Eyed Peas star is confident that Michaels record will be a chart hit because he hasn't lost any of his musical talents during his break from the industry.

He says, "I've been doing a lot of brainstorming with Jackson. Man, he still sings like a bird. "I think we have a real opportunity to do something here." And Jackson is equally complimentary of his musical new partner, saying, "I think he's doing wonderful, innovative, positive, great music. I thought it would be interesting to collaborate or just see how the chemistry worked."

Jesse Jackson's comments regarding Saddams's death:

"Saddam's heinous crimes against humanity can never be diminished, but he was our ally while he was doing it," he said Friday. "Saddam as a wartrophy only deepens the catastrophe to which we are indelibly linked."

2007, New Year, New Beginnings....

Well it's 2007, a brand New Year, a year of possibilities where the world is your oyster and I plan to take that bull by the horns.

Why a blog? I feel I've outgrown blogging on Myspace. I need a change of scenery, a bigger place to share my ideas and thoughts, rant about things that really get on my tits and share my dreams, aspirations and other stuff and nonsense with the world. Something outside of my online entertainment website where I don't have to be so politically correct.

Well, Happy New Year everybody, welcome to 2007, and welcome to my blog.
