Firstly congrats to British actress Helen Mirren who won Best Actress Oscar for her amazing performance as Queen Elizabeth II in “The Queen”
For those who didn’t see her receive her gong, I just had to share her speech with you all.
"For 50 years and more Elizabeth Windsor has maintained her dignity, her sense of duty and her hairstyle. She's had her feet planted firmly on the ground, her hat on her head, her handbag on her arm and she's weathered many, many storms. ... If it wasn't for her I most certainly would not be here," she said.
Saluting the monarch for "her courage and her consistency," Mirren thanked her and then held her Oscar aloft.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the queen," she said, smiling broadly.
