Angela Bassett Joining ‘ER’

Angela Bassett will join the cast of the Emmy-winning medical drama “ER” as a regular next season.

Bassett will play a tough attending with a troubled past who’s coming back to Chicago after a few years in Indonesia doing tsunami relief. Her arrival in the second episode next season promises to shake County General’s ER to the core.

A trio of Irish Catholic priests have been handed a $2 million record deal with label SonyBMG.

Father Eugene O'Hagan, Father Martin O'Hagan and Father David Delargy have vowed to give the money to charities near their homes in Northern Ireland.
The singing churchmen will continue to put their congregations first, even negotiating contracts allowing them time off to preside at services.

Martin O'Hagan says, "Our work means a great deal to us. We are priests first and foremost. Our work will be at the heart of our plans".

SonyBMG record boss Nick Raphael says, "Their voices are incredible. I'm extremely excited. They're going to be wonderful global superstars".

Breaking News: Beyonce & Jay-Z tie the knot...

Beyonce has married her longtime companion, hip-hop mogul Jay-Z, at a private ceremony in New York, People magazine reported on its website today.

The weekly quoted an unidentified friend of the couple as saying the couple had tied the knot at Jay-Z's penthouse apartment in the exclusive Tribeca area of the city late on Friday.

"Jay wanted it to be a really private affair -- close friends and family," it quoted the friend as saying.

Guests at the party, which was reportedly decorated with more than 50,000 white orchids flown in from Thailand, included former Destiny's Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, and the couple's friend Gwyneth Paltrow.

Speculation had mounted since earlier this week that the couple were about to tie the knot after it was reported they had just taken out a marriage license -- good for 60 days -- in New York state.

Ease On Down The Road - The Wiz

Ok, being an obsessive Michael Jackson fan as a child, I too am surprised or should I say embarrassed that I have NEVER seen the Wiz.

Gasp, horror, even Andrew nearly chocked on his beer when I said I'd never seen it, and he regards me as a fanatical fan now, doesn't think I ever grew out of it, lol.

"Ease On Down The Road" is really the only song that I know (of) associated with the film.

So how excited was I when my netflix came today with, da da daaaaaaaaaa - THE WIZ... Yes indeedee, I'm about to watch it now.. Enjoy the clip below.

Naomi Campbell in trouble with the law AGAIN..

Supermodel Naomi Campbell was arrested at London's Heathrow airport on suspicion of assaulting a police officer in an argument over luggage.

Campbell was reportedly handcuffed on board a British Airways aircraft at Heathrow's Terminal 5 on April 3. The hot-headed catwalk queen was taken to Heathrow Police Station, where she was released on bail this morning.

Ex-Stripper Gets 99 Years in Murder Plot

A former stripper-turned-soccer-mom convicted of murdering her ex-fiance was sentenced Wednesday to 99 years in prison. Prosecutors said Mechele Linehan based her plan on the plot of the 1994 movie 'The Last Seduction.' In the movie, a femme fatale gets away with a murder, while her boyfriend gets convicted.

ATA closes operations, files Chapter 11

ATA Airlines shut down operations and stranded thousands of travelers Thursday when an unexpected loss of key charter flights and soaring fuel costs forced the carrier into bankruptcy.

Once the nation's 10th-largest air carrier, ATA entered bankruptcy for the second time in just over three years. The company had more than 2,200 employees, and "virtually all" were told that their jobs were gone, company spokesman Michael Freitag said.

Many passengers learned of the collapse at ticket counters, where advisories were posted in the handful of cities ATA still served. About 10,000 passengers flew ATA each day when operations were shut down, according to the airline.

Airlines are struggling with rising fuel prices, labor strife, depressed ticket demand and heightened competition, said George Godlin, an analyst for Moody's Investor Service.
