BET 2008 Highlights...

Yes, it was that time of year again, the BET Awards... My how time has flown, seriously only seems like a few months ago when I was making my trek down to the Shrine for LAST YEARS show.

My personal highlights of the show..

Obviously Ne-Yo and Chris Brown..

Especially loved Alica Keys performance (I want her wig) when she collaborated with various female 90's acts (yaaay 90's). SWV, En Vogue and TLC (T-Boz and Chilli) at their best.

And lifetime achievement winner Al Green singing his classic - Lets Stay Together..

Although most of BET experience was spent on the red carpet and behind the scenes, all in all another eventful show...

Damon Dash and Wife Rachel Roy Form $4 Billion Dollar Joint Venture With Jones Apparel

Boston based Jones Apparel Group has informed the world of finance & fashion that they have formed a joint venture with Dame Dash, wife Rachel Roy & TSM Capital LLC .

The deal is worth an estimated $4 billion, to develop, market & license Roy's self titled clothing line in which the aforementioned will obtain 50% interest in the venture while the latter threesome will split the remaining half of the mergers stake.

Spike Lee to make Black Time Traveller Film

Spike Lee is making a movie about a scientific pioneer who is building a time machine.

Lee has bought the film rights to physicist Ronald Mallett's memoir, which tells the tale of his lifelong quest to create a workable means to travel through time.

Mallett, 63, became obsessed with the subject as a 10-year-old, following the death of his father.
Lee describes the project as a "fantastic story on many levels and also a father and son saga of loss and love".

The Incredible Hulk - Loved It...

So, according to tabloids the Hulk only made $54.5m this weekend which is considered a "minor" smash.

And apparently audiences preferred Eric Bana as the Hulk instead of Ed Norton.

I was one of those that contributed to the $54.5m and I thought it was GREAT.. I vaguely remember the TV Hulk when I was young, never really understood the story, just the catchphrase "Don't make me mad, you won't like me when I'm mad".

I also had the privilege of seeing the first 'Big Screen' Hulk with Eric Bana at a special industry screening (those were the days) and I was bored as hell.. I swear I nodded several times, woke up and it was STILL on, aaggghh.

Anyhoo, LOVED Ed Norton in the role, loved the action and did my speciality of sitting throughout the entire film with my mouth open (which I do when I'm totally engrossed in what I'm watching)

Go Norton, go Hulk.

Breaking News - R Kelly Verdict - NOT GUILTY

I'm speechless, seriously I don't know what to say...

A Cook County jury on Friday acquitted R&B superstar R. Kelly of child pornography charges, marking the end of a high-profile trial rich in courtroom drama and celebrity intrigue.

The 41-year-old singer, whose real name is Robert Kelly, long denied charges that he videotaped himself engaging in a variety of sex acts with his then-underage goddaughter. Authorities said the female in the video could have been as young as 13 at the time.

The jury of nine men and three women deliberated for 7 ½ hours before finding Kelly not guilty on all 14 counts.

The verdict ends a bizarre case that had languished for nearly six years. During almost four weeks of testimony, the jury heard about three-person sexual encounters and watched a sex tape in which the male participant is seen urinating on a female.

Hilary Clinton Concedes and Endorses Obama

A portion of the full speech of Sen. Hilary Clinton in Washington endorsing Barrack Obama for the Presidency and calling on her supporters to ensure that Obama is the next US President.

MTV fined $484,500 by U.K. regulator - Net taking steps to prevent future breaches

MTV Networks Europe has been fined a total of £255,000 ($484,500) by U.K. media regulator Ofcom for "widespread and persistent" breaches of its broadcasting code by four of its channels.

The Viacom-owned operator will have to pay the following penalties:
TMF £80,000 ($152,000), MTV France £35,000 ($66,500), MTV UK £80,000 ($152,000) and MTV Hits £60,000 ($114,000).

The "highly offensive language and material" was broadcast before the 9pm family-viewing watershed.

Auds complained about a number of shows. They included: repeated use
of the words "motherfucker" , "fuck you" and "fuck" in a music video by Aphex Twin for the song "Windowlicker" on TMF, and racist and homophobic text messages aired by MTV France in "Belge Chat."

Additionally TMF screened a trailer for the reality skein "Totally Jodie Marsh" on seven occasions between 9.48am and 3.15pm on July 24 last year containing the sentence: "I just don't want you settling down with some fucking wanker from a modeling agency."

Other breaches identified by Ofcom included a 4.30pm broadcast of MTV UK show "Totally Boyband" in 2006 featuring "extensive offensive language."

In a statement the regulator said: "Ofcom concluded that this material was not justified by the context of broadcasts that were likely to appeal to children and that the likely audience would have expected to have been protected from the most offensive language and material in
such programming. "

A spokesman for MTV said: "MTV Networks Europe takes this sanction and fine very seriously and has taken a series of steps to minimize as much as possible any breaches in the future.

"These include strengthening procedures regarding programs for pre-watershed broadcast, reviewing MTV's archive programming, increasing the number of staff involved in compliance and investing in a new channel management system."

Random Stuff: Publisher sues Victoria Gotti over book advance

A book publisher has sued Victoria Gotti for the return of an advance she was paid to write a memoir she never delivered.

HarperCollins Publishers LLC says in court papers filed Thursday in New York that the book was due in 2005. Gotti notified HarperCollins last September she was terminating the contract.

The lawsuit says the daughter of the late "Dapper Don" John Gotti and star of the reality show "Growing Up Gotti" did not return the $70,000 advance.

Literary agent Frank Weiman says his client will return the money when he gets her another deal.

Weiman says Gotti made her book deal with former publishing heavyweight Judith Regan and that Gotti canceled because Regan and other editors his client dealt with left HarperCollins.

T.I in multi-picture deal

T.I. is set to star in three upcoming high-profile movies, after signing a multi-picture deal with a Hollywood film company.

The contract with Screen Gems has landed the hip-hop star a role opposite Matt Dillon and Idris Elba in forthcoming film Bone Deep, a thriller about bank robbers attempting their final heist.

The second T.I.-starring film is titled Boulevard and is in pre-production phases, while the third is still in development, reports AllHipHop.com.

T.I who acted alongside Denzel Washington in the 2007 drama American Gangster, is also set to star in his own reality series on MTV, about the 1,000 hours of community service he must perform before his year-long imprisonment for possessing unregistered guns.

BREAKING NEWS: Obama wins Democratic nomination

Barack Obama has effectively clinched the Democratic presidential nomination, becoming the first black candidate to lead a major party into a campaign for the White House.

Vanquished rival Hillary Clinton swiftly signalled an interest in joining the race as running mate.

Obama arranged a victory celebration at the site of this summer's Republican National Convention in St Paul, Minnesota - an in-your-face gesture to Senator John McCain, who will be his Republican opponent in the race to become America's 44th president.

The 46-year-old Obama outlasted Clinton in a campaign that sparked record turnouts in primary after primary, yet exposed deep racial and gender divisions within the Democratic party.

In a campaign of surprises, Clinton's comments about joining the ticket rated high.

According to one participant in a conference call among Clinton and members of the New York congressional delegation, Representative Lydia Velasquez said she believed the best way for Obama to win over Hispanics and members of other key voting blocs would be to take the former first lady as his running mate.

"I am open to it," Clinton replied, if it would help the party's prospects in November, said the participant.

Meanwhile, in Atlanta, Georgia, former US President Jimmy Carter said he would endorse Obama after the polls closed on the final primaries.

South Dakota and Montana have held the last primaries.

Carter said: "The fact is the Obama people already know they have my vote when the polls close."
