Interesting fact: I had my hair like Caron Wheeler in this video, same headband and all on a trip to Ghana when I was younger. It took ALL DAY to do and my grandfather hated it and called me a hornet for the rest of my visit. I was obsessed with this song.

Vera Wang to hit Kohl's this September

Kohl's Corp. will make its first appearance in Times Square in September to mark the rollout of its new Vera Wang line, the department store chain's biggest product launch ever.

The Times Square billboard in New York, a first for the Menomonee Falls-based retailer, will go up Sept. 9 when the Simply Vera line will be in Kohl's stores. Ads for Kohl's Vera Wang designs will be in magazines and on newsstands this week.

The Wang line, an exclusive for Kohl's, offers middle America a chance to buy clothing, lingerie and accessories from a designer who until now dressed only those few who were willing and able to spend thousands on a skirt. Kohl's also will sell a collection of soft home items from Wang, who heretofore has sold her china and crystal only in higher-end stores.

The Simply Vera clothing for fall is feminine and whimsical, done in blacks, grays, taupe, dark brown and tones of purple, with a few accent pieces in gold and white. Wang has designed pleated skirts, bubble skirts, high-waisted dresses and several pieces with ruffles and bows for Kohl's.

The Wang deal with Kohl's has been compared by retail industry experts to Target's alliance with Isaac Mizrahi, and to H&M's practice of bringing moderately priced lines from big-name designers such as Stella McCartney to its stores.

Australia Post to release Brangelina Stamp

Funny news:

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are set to join the Queen, the Pope and the nation's sporting heroes by being immortalised in an Australia Post stamp.

The Hollywood A-List couple were featured on the cover of a recent edition of New Idea, the magazine which this week received top honors at the 10th Annual Magazine of the Year Awards.

Australia Post, as major sponsor of the awards, plans to reproduce the New Idea cover in the form of a 50c stamp.

It shows a smiling Brad and Angelina with their newborn baby girl Shiloh.

“I dont know of any other country in the world that has ever had Brad and Angelina on a stamp,” a New Idea spokesman said.

“Whatever the case, these stamps are sure to become instantly collectable and be sought after by philatelists around the country.”

If you recall Elephant Man's song Pon De River, Pon De Bank, these were the names of the dances they were doing in the video..

Yeah, it's not just Hip Hop the Dancehall songs have them too, (they've BEEN having them) it's just that you can't understand what they're actually saying, we're all used to hearing "Walk-it-Out" and all that other BS.

Anyhoo, the rumor mill has it that Usher and Tameka secretly got married yesterday in their attorneys office. The truth? I have no friggin idea, but then it's all part of the media circus that this story has now become.. My theory that they flew to Vegas and got married by a Chinese Elvis wasn't that far off..

** Since this post, it's now being reported that they did indeed tie the knot quietly and that his mother was present, or not??? **

"Thriller" in Philippines

I HAD TO HAD TO share this with you, this video is of CPDRC inmates at a prison in the Philippines. They’re doing a reenactment of Michael Jackson’s Thriller, apparently they DANCE for exercise.

After my initial bout of laughing like a hyena, I was totally in shock at just how disciplined and amazing these guys actually are. Seriously, they’re in perfect unison, waaaaaaaay better than some of those I saw audition for “So You Think You Can Dance”, and most of them look like old men.

Just a few things I thought I’d elaborate on, I don’t want to take away from the excellence of their routine.

The guy dressed as the woman (Ola Ray in the original), are those fake ta-ta’s???
The "Michael Jackson" looks like Frankenstein.

Orange must be the international jail fashion color choice.

I'm wondering if they got tortured if they didn't participate or got the steps wrong, the routine is just so so perfect.

The ending kind of freaked me out.

I saw Bobby Brown perform at KJLH's event in BB Kings last night.. Bear in mind, I was an obsessed teeny bopper Brown fan waaaaaaay back in the day, so I was expecting a SHOW..

I had the time of my life, Bobby can still ROCK the stage, he had everybody dancing and participating in the show... At one point Macy Gray (who he introduced as his best friend) and Stevie Wonder got up and performed with him...

Stay tuned for Bobby's new TV show which he promises to be funnier than "Being Bobby Brown".

After about 100 years R. Kelly's trial on child pornography is officially set to begin. At a hearing held yesterday in Chicago, Judge Vincent Gaughan said Kelly's trial will start on September 17th. Kelly faces 14 counts of child pornography for allegedly videotaping himself having sex with a girl who was reportedly 14 years old at the time. Kelly has pleaded not guilty to the charges. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $100,000.

Mikhail Gorbachev is the new face of Louis Vuitton.

Paris Hilton has landed a singing role in Repo! The Genetic Opera, a movie musical about a time in the future when organs are sold on the installment plan. When patients fail to make their payments on time, the organs are repossessed. The movie beings production in September.

Michael Imperioli former Sopranos bad guy will star in ABC's original movie Oprah Winfrey Presents: Mitch Albom's For One More Day as an alcoholic former baseball player who plans to end his life until he spends time magically with his deceased mother (Ellen Burstyn).

China seeks profit from panda poo

A Chinese wildlife research centre has come up with a novel idea to profit from panda poo -- make Olympic souvenirs out of it.

Researchers at the centre in Chengdu, capital of mountainous Sichuan province, had sculpted photo frames, bookmarks, fans and panda statues out of the 300 tonnes of the stuff produced by 60 giant pandas each year, state media said on Tuesday.

Jing Shimin, assistant to the director of the base, proudly declared that the souvenirs would be relatively odour-free.

"They don't smell too bad because 70 percent of the dung is just remains of the bamboo that the pandas are unable to digest," he told Xinhua news agency.

"We used to spend at least 6,000 yuan (390 pounds) a month to get rid of the droppings, but now they can prove lucrative as half of them will be sold as souvenirs."

Not wishing to miss out on Olympic-inspired profits, the base is currently working on moulding the poop into statues of athletic pandas performing various Olympic sports to sell as 2008 Olympic Games souvenirs.

Jared Padalecki presents new creepy show on MTV

OMG, last night I watched MTV’s Room 401. Blow me down with a feather, the show had me crying with laughter, it was crazy, actually quite sadistic, those poor poor people.

Presented by Jared Padalecki (Supernatural), 401 takes unaware victims into the center of mini horror movies that play in front of their eyes by some of the most talented, up-and-coming illusionists in the world..

From the reanimation of the dead, to chain-saw mishaps, to sinister sushi experiences, each episode will contain four "scares" sure to freak you out. There are no digital effects employed or altered images shown, what you see is real.

Room 401 is created and executive produced by Ashton Kutcher, basically says it all, huh??

The show airs at 10pm, Tuesday nights on MTV.

Luenell vows not to fall off the food wagon

It has been a challenge for Comedienne Luenell since having a child late in life to shed the pounds.

Recently the dynamic comedienne who has been making audiences roar nation wide from her on-going appearances with Katt Williams and The Pimp Chronicles Tour and her hysterical portrayal of a sweet hearted hooker in Borat, broke down in tears over her current weight issue.

After bloggers poked fun at her when she appeared at a recent red carpet event, she sought help from a fitness expert once again. The goal set before her at first seemed insurmountable but with some gentle coaching and reassurance, she has vowed, that this time, she will not fall off the ‘food’ wagon.

Liya Kebede Launches Lemlem - New children's line for 2008

Liya Kebede is the latest fashion plate to translate her honed maternal instincts into a burgeoning clothing line.

The 29-year-old supermodel and face of Estée Lauder, who catapulted to worldwide fame after Tom Ford discovered and signed her to an exclusive contract in 2000 with Gucci, has created a line of children's clothing called Lemlem, which means "to bloom" in Amharic, a Semitic language from Kebede's native Ethiopia.

The line is geared primarily toward children aged three months to 10 years old, and is expected to launch in early 2008 in limited distribution. All the pieces are handmade in Ethiopia and combine some traditional weaving and embroidery techniques with modern silhouettes.

In addition to her charitable work done through Estée Lauder, Kebede was in 2005 appointed a World Health Organization Goodwill Ambassador for maternal, newborn, and child health. Most recently, she established The Liya Kebede Foundation to reduce maternal, newborn, and child mortality. Kebede, who's also dabbled in acting with minor roles in The Good Shepherd and Lord of War, has two children with husband Kassy, including a six-year-old son named Suhul and a two-year-old daughter, Raee.

Ok, seriously don’t know what to say about this.. Am I missing something here, obviously getting married within a year of dating is the THING to do at the moment?? Anyhoo, ET is reporting (via OK! Magazine) that Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds are engaged.

According to OK! magazine, the 46-year-old 'Dreamgirls' and 'Shrek the Third' star proposed on July 25 with a "massive," roughly 8-carat CARTIER yellow diamond engagement ring.

A friend of the couple says, "They're very adorable together, very happy," adding that they plan to tie the knot before the end of the year with a private wedding: "something low-key and romantic."

Usher Cancels Wedding With Tameka Foster

The wedding between Usher and his pregnant fiance has been canceled, his publicist told The Associated Press today.

It was expected the multiplatinum singer would marry his longtime girlfriend, Tameka Foster today at record executive LA Reid's home in NY. The pair are expecting their first child together sometime this fall.

However, a statement released by publicist Patti Webster read: "It was announced today that the wedding ceremony for Usher Raymond, IV and Tameka Foster was canceled. No additional information will be given regarding the circumstances of the cancellation, but we hope the privacy of this matter will be respected."

Foster and Usher announced their engagement earlier this year, and later, that she was expecting his first child. She has three other children from a previous marriage.

It was not immediately clear whether the pair was still engaged or even a couple.

They probably flew to Vegas and got married by a Chinese Elvis, why not??

Baby Phat’s baby fashion – Ming and Aoki Lee Simmons unveil new line

In case you missed it.

Designing duo and future gizillionaire moguls Ming and Aoki Lee Simmons, daughters of Russell and Kimora Lee unveiled their fashion collection Wednesday afternoon with a charming tea party and runway show, à la Candy Land at the Baby Phat showroom.

Spectators sat on pink, yellow, and blue chairs and much of the front row was dominated by the mini-fashion set, namely those ages 10 and under. Guests indulged in cookies, ice cream, and cupcakes.

Camera crews trailed Kimora and her daughters for the entrepreneur’s newest extension of her all-encompassing lifestyle brand, a reality show entitled Kimora: Life in the Fab Lab, which debuts August 5 on the Style Network.

Blues singer Etta James hospitalized in LA

Blues singer Etta James is in stable condition in a Los Angeles hospital, suffering from complications following abdominal surgery, her manager said on Wednesday.

The 69-year-old rock 'n' roll pioneer was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, following the mid-June surgery, Lupe De Leon wrote in an email to Reuters.

James hopes to be well enough by the end of August to join blues icon B.B. King and soul veteran Al Green on a tour that began in Florida on Tuesday.

"If it had been left solely up to her, she would have checked herself out of the hospital and started the tour regardless of her delicate health," De Leon said. "However, her doctor advised that were she to do so, it would put her at very great risk."

R&B singer Chaka Khan is substituting for James on the tour.

SOUL LEGENDS ARE BACK

SOUL II Soul are celebrating their 20th anniversary by releasing a new single – their first in 10 years.

“We’re celebrating 20 years in February,” said founder member Jazzie B. “So we have a record that we’re doing now to celebrate the 20 years and then all of us, the whole crew, are in the studio writing for an album.”

The group recently performed together at the Love Box Festival in East London. Caron Wheeler, who wrote and sang lead vocals on the group’s massive hits (Back II Life and Keep on Movin) made a special guest appearance at the festival. She hadn’t performed on stage with Soul II Soul since their first tour in 1989. Has it really been THAT long????

Other legendary acts performing at the event included Debbie Harry with Blondie and Sly and the Family Stone.

Personally I can’t wait, I LOVE this group, still play their CD non stop.
