Luenell vows not to fall off the food wagon

It has been a challenge for Comedienne Luenell since having a child late in life to shed the pounds.

Recently the dynamic comedienne who has been making audiences roar nation wide from her on-going appearances with Katt Williams and The Pimp Chronicles Tour and her hysterical portrayal of a sweet hearted hooker in Borat, broke down in tears over her current weight issue.

After bloggers poked fun at her when she appeared at a recent red carpet event, she sought help from a fitness expert once again. The goal set before her at first seemed insurmountable but with some gentle coaching and reassurance, she has vowed, that this time, she will not fall off the ‘food’ wagon.

Liya Kebede Launches Lemlem - New children's line for 2008

Liya Kebede is the latest fashion plate to translate her honed maternal instincts into a burgeoning clothing line.

The 29-year-old supermodel and face of Estée Lauder, who catapulted to worldwide fame after Tom Ford discovered and signed her to an exclusive contract in 2000 with Gucci, has created a line of children's clothing called Lemlem, which means "to bloom" in Amharic, a Semitic language from Kebede's native Ethiopia.

The line is geared primarily toward children aged three months to 10 years old, and is expected to launch in early 2008 in limited distribution. All the pieces are handmade in Ethiopia and combine some traditional weaving and embroidery techniques with modern silhouettes.

In addition to her charitable work done through Estée Lauder, Kebede was in 2005 appointed a World Health Organization Goodwill Ambassador for maternal, newborn, and child health. Most recently, she established The Liya Kebede Foundation to reduce maternal, newborn, and child mortality. Kebede, who's also dabbled in acting with minor roles in The Good Shepherd and Lord of War, has two children with husband Kassy, including a six-year-old son named Suhul and a two-year-old daughter, Raee.

Anyhoo, ET is reporting (via OK! Magazine) that Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds are engaged.

According to OK! magazine, the 46-year-old 'Dreamgirls' and 'Shrek the Third' star proposed on July 25 with a "massive," roughly 8-carat CARTIER yellow diamond engagement ring.

A friend of the couple says, "They're very adorable together, very happy," adding that they plan to tie the knot before the end of the year with a private wedding: "something low-key and romantic."

Usher Cancels Wedding With Tameka Foster

The wedding between Usher and his pregnant fiance has been canceled, his publicist told The Associated Press today.

It was expected the multiplatinum singer would marry his longtime girlfriend, Tameka Foster today at record executive LA Reid's home in NY. The pair are expecting their first child together sometime this fall.

However, a statement released by publicist Patti Webster read: "It was announced today that the wedding ceremony for Usher Raymond, IV and Tameka Foster was canceled. No additional information will be given regarding the circumstances of the cancellation, but we hope the privacy of this matter will be respected."

Foster and Usher announced their engagement earlier this year, and later, that she was expecting his first child. She has three other children from a previous marriage.

It was not immediately clear whether the pair was still engaged or even a couple.

They probably flew to Vegas and got married by a Chinese Elvis, why not??

In case you missed it.

Designing duo and future gizillionaire moguls Ming and Aoki Lee Simmons, daughters of Russell and Kimora Lee unveiled their fashion collection Wednesday afternoon with a charming tea party and runway show, à la Candy Land at the Baby Phat showroom.

Spectators sat on pink, yellow, and blue chairs and much of the front row was dominated by the mini-fashion set, namely those ages 10 and under. Guests indulged in cookies, ice cream, and cupcakes.

Camera crews trailed Kimora and her daughters for the entrepreneur’s newest extension of her all-encompassing lifestyle brand, a reality show entitled Kimora: Life in the Fab Lab, which debuts August 5 on the Style Network.

Blues singer Etta James hospitalized in LA

Blues singer Etta James is in stable condition in a Los Angeles hospital, suffering from complications following abdominal surgery, her manager said on Wednesday.

The 69-year-old rock 'n' roll pioneer was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, following the mid-June surgery, Lupe De Leon wrote in an email to Reuters.

James hopes to be well enough by the end of August to join blues icon B.B. King and soul veteran Al Green on a tour that began in Florida on Tuesday.

"If it had been left solely up to her, she would have checked herself out of the hospital and started the tour regardless of her delicate health," De Leon said. "However, her doctor advised that were she to do so, it would put her at very great risk."

R&B singer Chaka Khan is substituting for James on the tour.

SOUL LEGENDS ARE BACK

SOUL II Soul are celebrating their 20th anniversary by releasing a new single – their first in 10 years.

“We’re celebrating 20 years in February,” said founder member Jazzie B. “So we have a record that we’re doing now to celebrate the 20 years and then all of us, the whole crew, are in the studio writing for an album.”

The group recently performed together at the Love Box Festival in East London. Caron Wheeler, who wrote and sang lead vocals on the group’s massive hits (Back II Life and Keep on Movin) made a special guest appearance at the festival. She hadn’t performed on stage with Soul II Soul since their first tour in 1989. Has it really been THAT long????

Other legendary acts performing at the event included Debbie Harry with Blondie and Sly and the Family Stone.

Personally I can’t wait, I LOVE this group, still play their CD non stop.

Prisoner poker could crack cold cases

Prison inmates are getting a present from the state of Florida: playing cards. For detectives looking to solve dozens of cold cases, it's the start of a game of Go Fish that might pay off big.

On Tuesday, Florida's nearly 93,000 state inmates started getting one of two decks that between them highlight 104 of the state's most troubling unsolved murder and missing persons cases.

The King of Spades in one deck is Tiffany Sessions, a 20-year-old University of Florida sophomore who disappeared on Feb. 9, 1989. The Queen of Diamonds in that deck is 12-year-old Jennifer Odom, a Pasco County girl whose body was found on Feb. 25, 1993, six days after she disappeared.

Latifah to perform at King benefit show

Queen Latifah, Garth Brooks and Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds will perform at a concert to raise money for a memorial to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. to be built on the National Mall, Washington D.C.

Quincy Jones, Russell Simmons and Tommy Hilfiger are organizing the Dream Concert, which will be held Sept. 18 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Tickets go on sale July 30 through TicketMaster, the memorial fund also announced Monday. Prices range from $250 to $1,000.

The memorial fund had previously announced that Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin and Carlos Santana would be among the headliners. NBC "Today" show weatherman Al Roker will be a special guest presenter.

The group working to build the King Memorial has raised $81 million of the $100 million needed to complete and maintain the memorial. It is slated for a space on the Tidal Basin between the Lincoln and Jefferson memorials and will include a sculpture of King and 14 quotations from the slain civil rights leader. The memorial is scheduled to be completed next year.

Movie roles galore for Mos Def

As if five projects weren’t enough for Mos Def's docket, Variety is reporting that he's got a sixth on the way – Bobby Zero, which he will star in and executive produce. Def plays the lead, "a down-on-his-luck social satirist who gives up his artistic aspirations to work at an advertising agency." He's also the romantic lead, but there's no word on who his character is itching to get groinal with.

In the meantime, we've got to wait until December to check out Be Kind Rewind, the flick that has him and Jack Black acting out classic movies after accidentally destroying an entire video store's worth. After that, -- Stringbean and Marcus, a film about broken romance between Black Panther members that teams him with Sophie Okonedo, a part in Toussaint, the biographical drama about the man who led the slave rebellion that sparked the Haitian revolution, the William H. Macy-helmed Keep Coming Back, about a kid with a heart condition who enters AA to stalk the stripper he has a crush on, Little Scarlet, the Walter Mosley adaptation that has Def co-starring with Jeffrey Wright and finally, The Brazilian Job, the follow-up to The Italian Job.

Rihanna launches "Umbrella" line

This is hardly surprising, her hit “Umbrella” scored the longest Number One position in over 10 years in the UK, for a period of 10 weeks, it was only obvious the marketing minds behind her would put a spin a things.

Seriously from being a song I couldn’t see what all the fuss was about, I’ve now heard it so so sooooooo many times, I alarmingly find myself making sure I get the right amounts of “Eh Eh’s” in when I sing along, aaaaaaaghh.

So there you have it, Rihanna recently announced her own collection of umbrella’s in collaboration with Totes clothing company.

Currently the collection ranges from $16 to $50 and has 5 models in different colors. The most expensive being the posh limited edition Rihanna 2 Color Satin Stick, ooh er.

According to the Totes website, this was the “Umbrella” specially designed for Rihanna’s performance at the 2007 MTV Movie Awards.

I could see them selling in the UK, (more out of necessity and the fact it’s a new posh looking brolly out on the market) but LA? Well we’ll see.

Laila Ali married former American football star Curtis Conway in a private ceremony in Los Angeles this weekend.

Among the 200 guests on Sunday were Laila's parents, Muhammad and Veronica, her sister Hana, and Conway's 12-year-old sons from a former relationship, Kelton and Cameron. The twin boys served as ringbearers for the ceremony, while Conway's eight-year-old daughter Leilani took part as the flowergirl.

The blushing bride - who had been dating Conway for two years - walked down the aisle in a champagne-colored strapless silk gown designed by Amy Michelson.

Wedding planner Juliet Ryan says, "Laila's approach to the wedding was simple but elegant. There were no lions and tigers and bears. It was about the love."

Hopkins wins in unanimous decision vs. Wright

Winky Wright suffered his first loss in 8 years to Bernard Hopkins last night at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

A head butt by Hopkins, 42 in the third round opened a deep cut over his left eye which dogged him for the remainder of the fight.

"I think I won the fight,"said Wright, 35, who went the hospital to have his cut eye stitched and skipped the post-fight press conference.

Bernard Hopkins retains his Ring Magazine light heavyweight title.

Looks like a big $$ rematch is on the cards..

MTV parks "Pimp My Ride"

The upcoming season of MTV's "Pimp My Ride" will be its last.

The network said Wednesday that the auto-centric series, hosted by rapper Xzibit, will return for its final season at 10:30 p.m. Sunday. (The final eight episodes previously aired in a June 9 marathon, a strategy MTV sometimes employs to generate buzz for shows ahead of their regular weekly time-slot premiere.)

"Ride" will be paired up with new car-makeover competition series, "Trick It Out," hosted by former "American Idol" contestant Becky O'Donohue, which debuts at 10 p.m. Sunday.

Apparently Tisha Campbell and Duane Martin are heading for divorce after 11 years of marriage???

The couple haven’t officially confirmed the story yet, but there’s been an ongoing rumor that both have been involved in “alternate lifestyles” during their marriage.

A close friend of the couple claims that the rumors are completely false and that Tisha and Duane don't feel that it even warrants a response..

Personally, I'd nip it in the bud if it wasn't true, only because it's spreading like wildfire and now a whole lot of other mess is now sprouting from that one rumor branch.

Ok, I had a crazy weekend, yesterday totally drained me, all afternoon at the beach (yes I was in the water big time, I’m 2 shades darker because of it) soccer practice (don’t ask) visiting a few people, a movie and a very late night, where did my youth go? I’m seriously knackered.

Anyway, I saw Daddy’s Little Girls for the first time last night, I know I’m totally late seeing this movie but that’s the way the cookie crumbles, watching movies isn’t my priority unless it’s work so hey.

I have to comment on the lead man Idris Elba’s American accent, for a London born and raised guy it’s totally convincing. So much so, I had always thought he was American. It was only when I went to a wrap party for The Wire in New York a few years ago (remember his role in HBO’s The Wire??) that I found out he grew up not too far from where I did in the UK, small bloody world.

My fake American accent totally sucks, I somehow become a southern belle for some reason and that’s why even after many many drinks I still won’t attempt it.

Vice Versa, the only convincing American who does an English accent better than I speak, is Rene Zellweger, seriously not too many non Brits can master it.

Anyway, enough of my ranting, just thought I’d share, total appreciation of Idris and he’s verrrry “camera friendly” as we say in the UK.

When it comes to applying to be Diddy's assistant, resumes are so 1995.

The rap mogul has launched an innovative campaign aimed at hiring his new helper by asking applicants to post a video on YouTube explaining why they deserve the job.

History Lesson - Chinese Foot Binding

Something interesting I thought I’d share with you…

In Chinese culture, foot binding made a woman more desirable, marriageable, and held a higher social status.

What is foot binding you ask?

When a girl turned anywhere from three to six years old in China, her mom would rip up strips of cloth and start binding her feet. The wrappings would be taken off daily, then rewound tighter and tighter. Sometimes the toes would be broken right away and folded under the foot; otherwise they would just be gradually bound in that direction so they'd end up there.

The 'ideal' length of a perfect foot, called the "Golden Lotus", was three inches long. This was a rare occurrence, this 3 inch perfection, but it was something to strive for nonetheless.

Q-Tip is back with "WorkItOut," the first single from his new album which he’s offering as a free download.

The cut is available NOW from Q-Tip's MySpace.com site. Its accompanying album, "The Renaissance," is due in the fall via Motown.

Wayne Brady's Wife Files for Divorce

The wife of comedian Wayne Brady has filed for divorce. Mandie Brady cites "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for ending their marriage, according to court documents filed Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court. She is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their 4-year-old daughter, Maile.

The couple wed in 1999, but separated in April 2006, the papers said.

A message left after business hours Tuesday with the comedian's publicist was not immediately returned.

Wayne Brady, 35, won two Daytime Emmy awards for hosting "The Wayne Brady Show." He has also won an Emmy Award for his performance on the improvisational comedy game show "Whose Line Is It Anyway?"

Happy 4th of July - Independence Day...

Happy 4th, Independence day.. Do you actually know what this day means??

Yes, it's a stupid question to many of you, but you'd be surprised how many "Americans" don't know the answer.

YEP, sad but true, I mean with all your holidays, Memorial Day, Labor Day etc, it gets kind of confusing right?? LOL

I felt bad when I'd asked what the other holidays meant (seemed quicker than googling the info and I honestly wanted to know) and they DIDN'T know, just that it was a holiday!!

The 4th really got me, I tried to help by saying, "well if it's Independence Day then you must be celebrating Independence from somebody" I got a few blank looks and comments about, a day off work, BBQ's and fireworks..

Okey Dokey, I left it alone.. I mean don't want people to think I only know about this holiday because it's when America became independent of us Brits, do I now??

According to KING Magazine which hits stands July 17th, Karrine claims to have had encounters with more 'high powered' performers and she's not shy about letting us in on the juicy details, oh errr...

"The Vixen Diaries is even more personal than the first book" claims Steffans, some named in the new release include Lil Wayne and Ne-Yo.... No comments here, you know I'm a BIIIG Ne-Yo fan..

Jungle girl following in dad's footsteps

At an age when many girls are still playing with their Barbie dolls, Bindi Irwin has moved on to something a bit more challenging.

"I have Blackie my black-headed python. I also have Corny the corn snake. He sleeps with me at night," the 8-year-old-daughter of the late crocodile hunter, Steve Irwin, says proudly as she rattles off the names of the menagerie she keeps back home in Queensland, Australia.

It's a group she hopes to introduce to the rest of the world through her new television show, "Bindi the Jungle Girl."

Taking up her famous father's legacy at such a tender age, is not something Bindi sees as a big deal. She began accompanying him on film shoots when she was just 6 days old and learned early on, she says, what her life's work would be.

Check out her new television show, airing Saturdays on the Discovery Kids Channel (5 p.m. ET).
